UNIVERSITIES ACROSS THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY ARE ADDING THEIR NAMES TO A LETTER TO THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION CONDEMNING WHAT THEY CALL THE COERCIVE USE OF RESEARCH FUNDING. THE ADMINISTRATION HAS ALREADY PULLED MORE THAN $2 BILLION FROM HARVARD OVER ITS REFUSAL TO COMPLY WITH THE LIST OF EDUCATION POLICY CHANGES. NEARBY UNIVERSITIES THAT SIGNED THIS LETTER INCLUDE DICKINSON COLLEGE IN CARLISLE, BUCKNELL IN LEWISBURG, SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY IN SELINSGROVE, AND ALSO FRANKLIN AND MARSHALL COLLEGE IN LANCASTER. Multiple schools in the Susquehanna Valley and at least 20 across Pennsylvania are adding their names to a letter criticizing the Trump administration.The statement written by the American Association of Colleges and Universities is signed by hundreds of schools nationally. "We speak with one voice against the unprecedented government overreach and political interference now endangering American higher education," the AACU wrote. The schools signing on to the statement include Dickinson College in Carlisle, Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster and Bucknell University in Lewisburg."We will always seek effective and fair financial practices, but we must reject the coercive use of public research funding," the AACU wrote. Harvard rejected the Trump administration's requests.
